[ LLOYD ] IS NOT WORKING
Lloyd Klein tells us his own story. He worked in the catheterization laboratory for 35 years in Chicago and Philadelphia, and was director of a cath lab for a long period of time.
At an early age he developed cervical discomfort and pain- which lead curtailing some of his activities toward the end of his career.
He couldn't do more than two long cases or three intermediate length cases before having severe pain. Even today, his neck still hurts and he has to sleep with his head propped up.
He retired from the cath lab around five years before he would have liked to.
While he’s still practicing, at the University of California, San Francisco - he no longer does invasive work.
But by comparison with the radiation induced illnesses of other cath-lab workers, he feels very lucky.
